These guidelines explain what can be listed on RootPit, how members should behave, and what happens when something breaks the rules. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. RootPit is an independent directory and is not affiliated with Root; Root's own rules also apply inside every community.
1. Listing quality
Every listing must:
- Be yours to list. Submit only communities you own or manage, or bots you develop. A moderator reviews every submission. If someone else listed your community, connect a Root Bridge to prove you manage it and claim the listing.
- Point to a working Root invite. Use a permanent invite (
https://rootapp.gg/…). We check invites daily. Listings whose invite fails three checks in a row are hidden until the owner fixes the link. - Describe the community honestly. The name, tagline, description, tags, and images must match what people find when they join. No bait-and-switch, fake member counts, or misleading claims.
- Use relevant tags. Pick up to 10 tags that describe the community. New tags are reviewed before they appear publicly; irrelevant or spammy tags are removed.
- Be listed once. Don't create duplicate listings for the same community. If a community is already listed and you manage it, use Claim this listing instead.
2. Bots
When bot listings are open, every bot must:
- Disclose every permission it requests and document its commands.
- Link to a privacy policy that explains what data it collects, and name its developer.
- Do only what its listing says. Bots that collect credentials, scrape member data, spam, or act without clear user intent are removed.
- Offer a safe install flow. RootPit shows a confirmation with the permissions before sending anyone to install a bot.
3. Votes and reviews
- One person, one account. Don't use alternate accounts, vote exchanges, bots, or paid services to vote or review.
- No incentivized votes or reviews. Don't offer rewards, roles, or giveaways in exchange for votes or positive reviews. You may ask your members to vote.
- Review honestly. Reviews must reflect real experience with the community. Owners can't review their own listings.
- Owner replies should be respectful. Respond to criticism professionally; don't harass or expose reviewers.
Manipulated votes can be removed and repeat offenders lose their listings.
4. Spam and deceptive behavior
Not allowed anywhere on RootPit: spam, scams, phishing, malware, "free Nitro"-style lures, impersonation of people, brands, Root, or RootPit, and links that disguise where they go.
5. Safety, harassment, and hate
We remove listings, reviews, and profiles that harass, threaten, or promote violence or hatred against people based on protected characteristics, or that target individuals for abuse.
6. Privacy
Don't post other people's private information (addresses, phone numbers, private messages, photos shared without consent) in listings, reviews, or profiles.
7. Age-restricted content
- Communities with mature themes (for example, adult discussion or graphic horror) must be marked Age-restricted (18+). They are labeled and kept out of homepage highlights.
- Sexually explicit content is not allowed on RootPit, whether or not it's marked 18+.
- Anything that sexualizes minors is banned and reported to the relevant authorities.
8. Intellectual property
Only use names, logos, and images you have the right to use. Rights holders can report infringement through the report button or the contact page. We act on valid notices and may remove repeat infringers.
9. Featured, Verified, and Partner labels
- Featured listings are chosen by RootPit editors for quality and activity. Featured placement is never sold, and features expire.
- Verified means a RootPit moderator confirmed the listing is run by its real owners.
- RootPit Partner marks communities we work with directly.
None of these labels mean Root endorses a community.
10. Reporting
Use Report on any listing, review, or profile. Choose what's wrong and add details or an evidence link. Reports are private. You'll get a notification when a moderator resolves your report. Please don't file duplicate or bad-faith reports; abusing the report system is itself a violation.
11. Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, moderators may:
- Reject a submission, with a reason you can fix and resubmit.
- Hide a review or remove tags.
- Suspend a listing (hidden from the directory until fixed or reinstated).
- Remove a listing permanently, or suspend an account.
Every moderation action is logged with a reason. Owners are notified by email and in their notifications.
12. Appeals
If you think a decision was wrong, use the contact page and choose Appeal a moderation decision. Include the listing name and any context. A different moderator reviews appeals where possible.
13. Inactive and removed listings
We may hide or remove listings when the invite is broken, the community was deleted or made private, the listing duplicates another one, or the owner asks us to. Imported listings that nobody claims and that stop resolving are removed after they fail our checks.
